PUST - CARNIVAL
Through history and now Pust Carnival is an important tradition in Slovenia. It is an old custom and habit, a festival to scare away the winter. The most famous mask is Kurent, which scares away the winter with strong noise and announces the beginning of spring. Carnivals are usually happening in smaller villages and last through the whole week. Children go from house to house and collect change or sweets. Although winters are no longer as cold as they once were, the culture of the carnival is still alive.
The graphics for the chair were carved from the image of the masks that were used in these carnivals and adapted to fit the shape of Karjolca chair.
